The Indo-Swiss Building Energy Efficiency Project (BEEP, www.beepindia.org) is a bilateral cooperation project between the Ministry of Power (Mo P), Government of India and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) of the Swiss Confederation. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is the implementing agency on behalf of the MoP while the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is the agency in charge on behalf of the FDFA and Effinart is the consulting company leading the Swiss contribution of the project.
The overall objective of the project is to reduce energy consumption in new commercial buildings and to disseminate best practices for the construction of low energy residential and public buildings. The project contributes to strengthening and broadening the Bureau of Energy Efficiency’s (BEE) building energy conservation programme for the 12th Five-Year Plan. The project is of 10 years duration (2012-22). During the 1st phase, 20 large commercial, institutional and a hospital have benefitted from the design support of the project of a total built surface of 1.4 million m2. One of these projects is presented on the right of this page à.
